ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO LIVE IN THE
NEIGHBORHOOD YOU ARE CONSIDERING?

Picture
You've found the perfect house for you!  You love the layout and the kitchen!  Do you love the neighbors and the neighborhood????

Make sure you want to live in the neighborhood BEFORE you submit an Application, pay your Reservation Fee or sign your Lease.

WHY?

Because the Fair Housing Act of 1968 puts the responsibility of choosing where you want to live on YOU!  We CANNOT give your our opinions of any area.  That is considered "steering", which is illegal and is DISCRIMINATION.  We CANNOT steer you toward or away from any area, block or house!

It is YOUR legal responsibility to investigate the neighborhood and find out if there are adverse conditions you don't want to live near.
  • Are there dogs across the street you don't want to be near?
  • Are their neighbors doing illegal activities you do not want your children near?
  • Do the next door neighbors party all night long?
We don't live there, so we rarely know information about the neighborhood, anyway.

Deciding you do not want to live somewhere AFTER you have signed the Lease and paid your money is TOO LATE!  You just signed a legally binding contract saying you DO want to live there.

BEFORE you submit an application, check out the neighborhood!

Suggestions:
  • Drive through the neighborhood during both day and night-time hours.
  • Knock on some doors and meet your prospective neighbors.  Do you want to be their neighbor?
  • Check the Police crime statistics.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!  The law make it your responsibility to choose where you want to live!
